Meet the maker: Giuseppe from Le Marche, Italy

Giuseppe’s bottega was born in 1973 in Fermo, Italy, when he was only 18 years old, which at the time was not yet the age of majority. His passion for shoes began much earlier, when he was just 10 years old and by chance entered a shoe company to sell one of his paintings. With the keen and curious eye of a boy, he was fascinated by the dance of the hands of the craftsmen who made shoes.

It was love at first sight.
Giuseppe

Thus began, at only 11 years of age, the apprenticeship of a craftsman who, with his creative flair, would succeed in creating small masterpieces, worn even by Madonna and Celine Dion. A young man like many others who explored an industry with a high demand for work, but with a determination and a passion that made him immediately open his own company that kept him awake even at night.

Giuseppe proudly tells us that his is not a real job, that he cares relatively little about turnover. His is a real passion and every project is just as if it were his own creation. He stands at attention until the product is delivered, almost like a parent waiting for a child to come home.

Every step of production is followed by him in person. From the idea that always becomes a challenge to his creativity to the realisation. His curiosity and passion have also led him to the tanneries, to study the process of working the leather to understand its limits and qualities to be brought back in his shoes.

For Giuseppe, shoes are an idea that with reflection and a lot of work become reality. He feeds on new and fresh projects, making it perfect for those who want to make their mark in fashion. He experiments starting from tradition and raw materials, just like a starred chef.

Working with DOF Studios, he has been able to perfect his craft whilst executing eco-friendly products, thus becoming part of what is the sustainable revolution. Being an all-round craftsman, he is strongly linked to the raw material and to the use of leather, which he has been working with mastery for decades.

Giuseppe says that he has spent more time of his life in his factory than in his bed. His passion is overwhelming and he has managed to pass it on to his daughters who help him in his business.
